A million thanks to everyone who has donated so far to our Razoo page for the care of the Maltese dogs that we took in from the original 51 abandoned in rural Denton County! Please continue to donate towards their care — their dental bills have exceeded our original estimate by about $300, so if you can, consider making an additional donation or encourage your networks to do so. Many of you have asked us and the media, How could anyone be so cruel? What kind of person or persons could be so evil that they would do this horrifying thing to such defenseless, beautiful creatures? The answer, of course, is that we don’t know how anyone could be so cruel, and we still don’t know (as of this writing) who or what group did this unspeakable thing to these dogs. The Flower Mound Police Department is continuing its investigation and has received numerous leads on possible suspects, but no charges have been filed. They suspect illegal breeders are the culprits.
What we do know, however, is that all the dogs are now in the wonderful, loving care of the Flower Mound Humane Society and several rescue groups across North Texas, including TMHPR. Whatever their past may have been, they now have a hopeful, happy future ahead of them.
Below are some photos provided to us by the Flower Mound Humane Society of the dogs shortly after they were brought in and before they were completely cleaned. You can see how filthy and neglected these dogs were.
Many thanks to the Humane Society of Flower Mound for taking these photos and sharing them with us!
